Minoxidil Side effects

Minoxidil almost in all patients cause side effects, so large number of patients simply cant take it. The most common side effect is water retention and hypertrichosis.

Water retention can be very hot, so patient must take strong diuretics such as furosemide. Also, there are palpitations and tachycardia, so as like hydralazine, minoxidil also should not be given alone.

Another side effect after a few weeks in nearly all patients was unpleasant by hypertrichosis, or increased hair growth on an otherwise covered or barren areas of the body.

It is believed that this occurs due to the increased circulation in the skin.
Therefore minoxidil preparations are used for the treatment and correction of alopecia, but the uncritical and excessive use of these preparations there are a lot patients with cardiac side effects.
